Google Tips And Tricks

Hello friends today i'm disscussing some most important google tricks and tips,these tips really helps you,when you search anything online.So don't waste your time and try to implement this:):)

1)Google's main search invisibly combines search terms with the Boolean construct "AND". When you enter computer world – it looks for computer AND world

2)To make Google search for computer or world, just type computer OR world,(Instead of OR you can type the | symbol, like this: computer | world)

3)Boolean connectors like AND and OR are case sensitive. They must be upper case.

4)Search for a specific term, then one keyword OR another by grouping them with parentheses, like this: near(computer OR world)

5)To look for phrases, put them in quotes: "there's no school without students"

6)Exclude specific key words with the minus operator. new -amazon excludes all results from amazon.

7)The plus operator makes sure stop words are included. Like: fish +and chips

8)You can also ask Google to fill in a blank. Try: Christopher Columbus discovered

9)Search for a numerical range using the numrange operator. For example, search for Sony TV between £300 and £500 with the string Sony TV £300..£500

10)Search for any filetype directly using the modifier filetype:[filetype extension]. For example: soccer filetype:pdf

11)Google has some very powerful, hidden search parameters, too. For example "intitle" only searches page titles. Try intitle:herbs

12)If you're looking for files rather than pages – give index of as the intitle: parameter. It helps you find web and FTP directories.

13)The modifier inurl only searches the web address of a page: give inurl:spices

14)Want to know how many links there are to a site? Try link:sitename – for example link:www.mozilla.org

15)Similarly, you can find pages that Google thinks are related in content, using the related: modifier. Use it like this: related:www.microsoft.com

16)The modifier info:site_name returns information about the specified page.

17)Specify a site to search with the site: modifier – like this: search tips site:www.facebook.com

18)Use the site: modifier when searching Google Images, at images.google.com. For example: dvd recorder site:www.amazon.co.uk

19)Similarly, Google Blogsearch(blogsearch.google.com) has its own syntax. You can search for a blog title, for example, using inblogtitle:<keyword>

20)The general search engine can get very specific indeed. Try movie:<name of film> to look for movie reviews.

21)For a dedicated film search page, go to www.google.co.uk/movies

22)Google really likes movies. Try typing director: The Dark Knight into the main search box.

23)For cast lists, try cast: name_of_film

24)There's also a built-in dictionary. Try define:<word> in the search box.

25)Google stores the content of old sites. You can search this cache direct with the syntax keyword cache:site_url

26)Synonym search looks for words that mean similar things. Use the tilde symbol before your keyword, like this: ~rain

27)Looking for a map? Just add map to the end of your query, like this: Leeds map

28)Google finds images just as easily and lists them at the top, when you add image to the end of your search.

29)What time is it? Find out anywhere by typing time then the name of a place.

30)You can invoke the spell checker directly by using spell: followed by your keyword.

31)Click "I'm Feeling Lucky" to be taken straight to the first page Google finds for your keyword.

32)Want to see what others are searching for or improve your page rank? Go to www.google.com/zeitgeist

IPV6 Launched

Hello friends on june 6,2012 microsoft launched IPv6.Now microsoft supports industry-standard technologies including the new standard protocol for the Internet, Internet Protocol version 6 (also known as IPv6), which is the next step beyond IPv4, the current standard protocol for the Internet. These protocols provide IP addresses, the "phone numbers" for the Internet that are responsible for identifying computers and devices so that they can communicate.
IPv6 is designed to solve many of the problems of IPv4, including mobility, auto-configuration, and overall extensibility. IPv6 expands the address space on the Internet and supports a nearly unlimited number of devices that can be directly connected to the Internet.

Differences between address space of IPv4 & IPv6:-

An IPv4 address is represented by 4 groups of 8-bit decimal values separated by dot(.),For example:-

An IPv6 address is represented by 8 groups of 16-bit hexadecimal values separated by colon(:)and it is abbrviated with the  following rules:
  • Omit leading zeroes in a 16-bit value.
  • Replace one or more groups of consecutive zeroes by a double colon.

    How To Speed Up Internet By 20%?

    Friends Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes like Windows Updates and interrogating your PC,You can get it back by following steps.

          Click Start then Run and type gpedit.msc without quotes. This opens the group policy editor.

        Then go to:-

              ->Local Computer Policy
           ->Computer Configuration
           ->Administrative Templates
           ->Network

           ->QOS Packet Scheduler
           ->Limit Reservable Bandwidth.

           Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth It will say it is not configured, but the truth is that by default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a
    connection, but you can use this setting to override default  So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to
    ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.

    Why Can We Not Ping Microsoft.com, Amazon.com, Or Other Site?

    Hello Friends,Some popular sites such as amazon.com, microsoft.com, slashdot.org, and other sites that have had DoS attacks in the past may disable ICMP(Internet Control Message Protocol) on their servers and setup other network settings that prevent a ping request be received or responded to. Because of this when you ping these domain names or their associated IP addresses you'll receive a "Request timed out." or get a "100% packet loss."

    Internet Explorer Error: Done, But With Errors On Page

    My dear friends this error is caused when the page you're attempting to view has JavaScript or other script related errors.Unless you've access to edit the page you'll be unable to fix this error.

    If you're the web designer or editor of a page that is getting this error, look at the source code and verify no errors exist in the JavaScript or other scripts used. Often this is caused by improper syntax, incomplete code, or scripts that are not placed in the proper section of the HTML. For example, some JavaScript's require some code to be in the <head> portion of the code and other portions be in the <body>.

    Methods To Remove 404 Error On The Internet?

    Hello Friends,404 is an HTTP status code error "Not Found 404" or "Page Not Found", which indicates the server was unable to find the requested address.

    If the page continues to generate a 404 it means it has been moved or deleted. Below are some tips on how you can locate lost or moved pages:-

    1)Check for a Google Cache:-

    Google has a cache of almost every page it indexes on the Internet. If you are unable to access the information you are looking for because of a 404 error,To do this open a Google search and type a command similar to the below command example.

    cache:http://www.learning-tutorials.blogspot.com

    2)Go back to the domain:-

    Erase everything in the URL except the domain name and search for the page you're looking for. For example, if this page: http://www.facebook.com/home/profile was bad, erase everything except: http://www.facebook.com/ and look for a search box and search for the page or topic you're trying to find.

    3)Internet Archive:-

     If you're trying to find an older web page that has disappeared from the Internet, or you wish to view the history of a web page, visit the Internet Archive, which has complete snapshots of over 85 billion pages since the early 90's.

    What Is ActiveX

    ActiveX is an extension to Microsoft's OLE and COM technologies used in applications and on the Internet. Using ActiveX, an Internet browser can interact with your computer more than what is available through HTML. For example, ActiveX allows users to scan their computer for viruses in their browser using free online anti-virus scanners or scan their computer for any Windows updates.
    Although there are benefits to using ActiveX, because it can interface outside the browser there are also various security threats and malware that can attack the computer using ActiveX. Therefore, unless you know what the ActiveX plug-in does and you trust the website that is asking to install the ActiveX plug-in I recommend not installing any ActiveX plug-ins.Microsoft Internet Explorer is the only Internet browser that uses ActiveX, although many alternative browsers do have ActiveX plug-ins that can be installed. Browsers that do not support ActiveX use alternative plug-ins such as Flash, Java, and Shockwave.

    What is Favicon.ico?

    Hello friends the  favicon.ico is a small icon found in the URL address bar and on any bookmark created in Internet Explorer 5.0 and above and all other recent releases of Internet browsers such as Mozilla Firefox and Opera.

    The favicon can be created using any free icon generator or in a free online favicon generator such as favicon.cc. The file favicon.ico must be 16x16 in dimension - 16 colors and must be saved as an .ico file.Finally, the file favicon.ico should be uploaded into the root directory on the server hosting your web page.

    More recent Internet browsers are adopting using favicon.gif in addition to favicon.ico. If you're a web site or blog developer I suggest not only having a favicon.ico, but also a favicon.gif file in your root directory and other sub directories to help prevent 404 errors in your server log.

    If your browser doesn't show fevicon.ico icon then there should be following reason behind this:-
    1. If you or someone else using your computer has recently cleared your Internet cache the favicons will be lost in many browsers because they're stored in this temporary cache.
    2. Page has not been loaded recently or the browser does not look in the proper location for the favicon. Try refreshing the browser page.
    3. If you're the webmaster of a web page and are unable to get your favicon.ico to be displayed make sure the icon is stored in the root directory and if the page is stored in a folder or other directory try placing the favicon.ico file in that directory.
    4. Finally, earlier browsers have had other various issues related to the favicon.ico file. Make sure you're running the latest available Internet browser version for your operating system.

    What Are Flash Cookies Or Local Shared Objects (LSO)?

    Hello friends as you know that cookies are small text files used to save information about an individual or their use of a web site. For instance, a cookie can be used to save your login name, your preferences for viewing content, or to track you as you browse the Internet. According to a Jupiter Research study, 58% of online users have deleted cookies from their computer and 39% of users do so on a monthly basis. This regular "cookie tossing" is causing direct marketers to see more invasive methods to track individuals. One of those methods is to set a "Local Shared Object," also known as a "Flash cookie" to track individuals. Simply put, the idea behind this tracking is to set two cookies on the user's machine--a standard cookie that the consumer may erase, and a second Flash cookie that the user probably will keep, because the existence of Flash cookies is not well known.

    Flash cookies are set through a mechanism in Macromedia's Flash MX player. According to Macromedia, 98% of computer have some version of Flash on their computers.

    Normal web cookie requires the use of a scripting language outside of Flash (Javascript or ASP, for example). Placing a Local Shared Object only requires the use of ActionScript--the scripting language that controls Flash movies. In its newest version, Flash MX, Macromedia introduced the Local Shared Object, which provided an easier way to store information.

     Normal web cookies can be managed via the preferences dialog of most web browsers, but no similar utility is included for these Flash cookies. It is possible for Flash cookies to remain on user's computer indefinitely, as there is no mechanism to set an expiration date on Flash cookies.Flash ccookies  are  also known as PIE (persistent identification element)

    Who can access a Flash cookie?

    As with normal web cookies, a domain can only access data that it created; it is not allowed to read Flash cookies created by other domains. This prevents sites from observing user behavior at other sites.

    Where are Flash cookies stored?

    Flash cookies are stored in a special directory depending on the operating system on the client machine. They are arranged in directories according to the site that placed them on the computer (look for a file with a .SOL extension):
    • Windows C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player
    • Macintosh OSX /Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player
    • GNU-Linux ~/.macromedia

    Why Has My IP Address Changed?

    Hello friends ,if you're connecting to the Internet using a modem each time you connect to the Internet you'll be assigned an IP address that's available. Although you may get the same IP address as a previous connection often you'll be assigned a different IP address each time you connect. This is normal behavior and cannot be changed. If you're wanting a static (address that doesn't change) IP address you'll need to connect to the Internet using a broadband connection.Unlike a modem when connecting to the Internet with a broadband connection you should be given an static IP address that will be the same each time you connect to the Internet. However, this address can still change, below are a few of the reasons why this may change.

    1. Your DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocall) lease time given to your IP address has expired.
    2. Your ISP(Internet Service Provider) changes their network infrastructure.
    3. ISP changes the center or router responsible for your address.
    4. ISP has encountered a network failure causing routing tables to rebuild or other network related issues.

    CAPTCHA and ReCAPTCHA

    Hello friends,today i'll tell you about two most important words that are commonly use when you fill any registration form in the internet.

    Short for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart, CAPTCHA is a protection that identifies humans from computers. A commonly used CAPTCHA is an image that is distorted that contains text that is easy for humans to read, but difficult or impossible for computers to read.

    A CAPTCHA that not only helps protect a site from bots or other sctipts but also helps read books. With a ReCAPTCHA one word is generated by the script and another word is a scanned word that an OCR program didn't understand. The idea is that if a user successfully understands one of the words that it's more than likely that the other word is also correct. On September 16, 2009, Google announced it was acquiring ReCAPTCHA.

    How Do I Set the Rights Or Chmod A File In A FTP Client?

    Hi friends,Setting the rights of a file may be necessary when uploading a script or non-traditional file to your web server. To set the rights of a file or chmod a file in an FTP client, follow the instructions below. In our below example we'll be using FileZilla, our favorite free FTP client. So please read the following instructions carefully and try to do these steps with own your own..

    1. Open FileZilla.
    2. Connect to the server you're uploading the files to.
    3. On the left-hand side of FileZilla showing your files browse to the location containing the files you wish to upload.
    4. Next, on the right-hand side of the window, browse to the location you wish to upload the files to. If this location doesn't exist create it.
    5. Upload the files by dragging and dropping or right-clicking the files and selecting upload.
    6. Finally, once uploaded you'll notice that the permission by default has been set to "644" or "0644". To change that permission right-click the file and click file permissions. If you know the numeric value the file needs to be set to, enter that value into the text box and click ok or check each of the boxes you wish to set the permissions for.
